At Stuto Foot Specialist Podiatry, we know that the people of New York faced the brunt of the challenges associated with the COVID-19 outbreak. The state is now reopening in phases, joining other states.
Months of staying at home and social distancing has slowed down the explosive spread of the virus and allowed people to venture out. Physical activity was one aspect of our lives that took a nosedive, and it is only fair that we get our bodies slowly adjusted to the physical exertion but without pushing it too hard from the get-go.
Here are some tips to help you get moving again:
Motivate yourself: Be your own best friend and encourage yourself to find the drive that makes you resilient. Know that no one can do anything for you unless you help yourself first. It would help if you straightened your schedule out, set your goals, and get moving.
Mandatory checkup for your chronic foot problems: For those of you who suffered or are suffering from a chronic foot disorder, consult your podiatrist right away. With the right diagnosis and treatment, you can speed up your recovery.
Choose your sport wisely: You are the best judge of your fitness and physical capabilities. Prepare yourself before you start and make sure you take it slowly. Be it walking, running, or going to the gym, do not overexert.
Gear and footwear check: Shoes are specifically designed to provide comfort and reinforcement according to the physical activity that you choose. Use the shoes meant for that particular activity, for example, if you play tennis wearing your hiking shoes, you’ll end up injuring your feet. Also, replace your insoles with fresh ones if possible.
Step outside with caution: With summer in full bloom, it only makes sense to opt for outdoor activities. However, follow social distancing and take proper precautions.
