Summers are associated with outdoor activities like walking, running, and hiking, to name a few. As you step out, it is important to know what kind of shoes to wear depending on the activity you choose to engage in.
Here are four things to keep in mind when selecting your footwear:
- The right size: Wearing the right fit shoes is crucial to protect your feet from harm. Make sure there is ample space for your toes to move inside the shoes. However, they should not be so large that your foot slips out from the back. It is suggested to try on shoes closer to day’s end (that’s when your feet have expanded to the max) along with the socks that you will be wearing at the time of the physical activity.
- The right shoe for the right purpose: Your shoe selection will depend greatly on the type of terrain you choose to walk on. For instance, running shoes will not be appropriate for hiking on rugged or uneven trails.
- Endurance: It is important to test the flexibility of your shoe type; i.e. it should bend at the balls of your feet and the sole should be soft so that it can absorb shocks better.
- Arch support: Your shoes should provide the maximum arch support to your feet. Your arch can be high, low or even flat. Accordingly, it is critical to buy shoes that best fit the shape of your feet so that they are not under excessive or undue stress.
