The spring and the fall are a wonderful time of the year. The temperature is very mild, the weather starts to get nicer, and the ambiance and foliage is all very beautiful. For the unlucky few who have allergies though, it can be uncomfortable at best.

A lot of people suffer from seasonal allergies. It can cause congestion, pressure and itching. These allergies don't only affect the face and sinuses. Skin allergies can also appear on the feet. When the skin on the foot is inflamed and irritated from exposure to an irritant, it is known as a skin allergy. There are two types of skin allergies. The two types of skin allergies are irritant dermatitis and allergic dermatitis.

Irritant Dermatitis

Irritant Dermatitis can be caused by prolonged exposure to, improper use of, or contact with an alkaline or acidic substance. Soaps, laundry detergents, hair products, rubber materials and chemicals are common substances that can trigger an irritant dermatitis. Hot water can even be a trigger for irritant dermatitis.

Allergic Dermatitis

Allergic Dermatitis is due to an allergic reaction to a particular substance. It can be a chronic case or be due to multiple cases of exposure over a period of time. Common triggers for this type of reaction are personal hygiene products, antibiotics, soaps, adhesives such as bandages, latex, plants and fragrances. Airborne allergens such as oils and pollens can also cause allergic dermatitis.

Symptoms of skin allergies can appear on the hands, feet, scalp, and face. Any skin that has come into contact with an irritant or allergen can also be affected. Here is a list of common symptoms:
