Quarantine and Your Feet

Quarantine and Your Feet

Even though it has been months since the Coronavirus outbreak and the quarantine at home began, much of the world is still staying at home, and taking measures to maintain social distance. Whether you are working from home or in an office, remember to take appropriate measures in light of the pandemic. Pay attention to your health overall, and the health of your feet and ankles.

Today Dr. Joseph Stuto of Stuto Foot Specialist Podiatry is sharing a few essential tips to help keep your body and feet in good health:

  • Start walking: Even if it's just a short walk to the kitchen for a glass of water or vacuuming your room - walking is an extremely beneficial activity. Maintaining good mobility and independence is key to good health and fitness. Always wear proper shoes to help prevent injuries and other potential foot hazards, even when enjoying time at home.
  • Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water! Experts recommend drinking eight 8-ounce glasses a day. A well-hydrated body is a crucial component of your overall body health.
  • Maintain good hygiene: Good hygiene habits help the body stay clean and healthy. Wash your feet daily and dry them thoroughly (don't miss the spaces between the toes). Basic foot hygiene can help prevent infections, ingrown toenails, and other issues.
  • Get a good stretch: Revitalize your feet with a few simple stretches. A good stretch can help improve flexibility and strengthen your foot muscles and ligaments. Stretching is also an excellent way to loosen the muscles and help relieve pain.
  • Develop good eating habits: Avoid sugary and junk foods. Being overweight causes many complications for the body. A nutritious diet strengthens the immune system and helps you maintain a healthy weight.
